Early Tuesday, Julianne Hough shared the news that she and Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich are engaged. No word on who took this photo but the caption reads:
“We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiance #love”
For his part, Laich sent the exact same social media update so this was obviously well-coordinated. The two have been dating since being introduced in December 2013 so this isn’t entirely unexpected, of course, but it’s exciting news nonetheless. Hough is an actress and two-time former “Dancing With The Stars” champion.

Laich is obviously the perfect man, who does things like pick up Hough from the airport with flowers, as noted by the Post’s Scott Allen.
We should all be glad that Hough’s ex, the omnipresent media personality Ryan Seacrest, will be handling NBC’s Summer Olympic duties and not the Winter Olympiad, because things could get a bit awkward if Brooksie finds himself playing for the Canadian national team again.
Regardless, it seems Laich’s teammate is forecasting good things.
